Dua after AdhanTap to expand
Allahumma Rabba hadhihi d-da'wat it-tammah, was-Salat il-qa'imah, ati Muhammadan il-wasilata wal-fadilah, wab'athhu maqaman mahmudan il-ladhi wa'adtah
O Allah, Lord of this perfect call and of the prayer to be offered, grant Muhammad the means (al-wasilah) and the eminence, and raise him to the praiseworthy station that You have promised him.
Whoever says this after the Adhan will have the intercession of the Prophet ﷺ on the Day of Resurrection. Sahih Bukhari 614.
Iqamah · the call before fardh prayerTap to expand
Recited just before standing for the obligatory prayer. Wajib in the Hanafi madhab; Sunnah Mu'akkadah in Maliki, Shafi'i and Hanbali; Mustahabb in Ja'fari.
How it differs from Adhan:
- Adds "Qad qamatis-salah" (the prayer has begun) after "Hayya 'ala'l-falah"
- Hanafi & Ja'fari: 17 phrases (full doubled structure, "Qad qamatis-salah" said twice)
- Maliki: 10 phrases (most pronouncements singled, not doubled)
- Shafi'i & Hanbali: 11 phrases ("Qad qamatis-salah" said twice, others once)
- Ja'fari adds "Hayya 'ala khayril 'amal" (Shia tradition)
- "As-salatu khayrum minan-nawm" (in Fajr) is added in Hanafi Iqamah only; the other Sunni schools restrict it to the Adhan
